Egypt is a place of well worn tourist shoes; for UK tourists it’s a popular place to visit for the hot weather and historical architecture. Egypt is situation in North Africa and it borders the Mediterranean Sea. It also borders Sudan and Libya, as well as Israel and the troubled Gaza strip in the Northeast. Egypt is highly populated and has a great tourist industry. A large area of the land is desert (famously the Sahara) although most of the residents will live in the cosmopolitan cities such as Alexandria and Cairo. Egypt is known of course for its Ancient history; the legends of Pharaohs, the Pyramid, the Phsyniz, the Temples and the Valley of the Kings. Egypt is a large country and is four times the size of the United Kingdom, however because of the deserts, only 5.5% of the land area is used.

Climate
Egypt has a dry arid climate in the desert lands, although in the cities such as Cairo the weather is liveable and there is rainfall in the winter months. During October and Mach, rain will come although there is not much. Temperature tend to be around 27 – 32 degrees centigrade in the summer but considerable hotter in the desert – be aware of this if you are visiting – you will need cover up from the sun as well as lots of water with you. Sand also has a tendency to be blown around so wear sunglasses. Every year the Nile will flood and replenish the soil which is essential to the growing of crops.
What to do
Egypt is a world heritage site and it’s easy to see why. The pyramids, the sphinx for example – all preserved throughout the world. These visits aren’t cheap to visit as they are very popular – seeing the pyramids may cost more than £25 in admission fees each.
Don’t forget to visit the amazing River Nile – the longest river in the world. If you visit the cities you will see a lot o cosmopolitan people – visit the famous Khan al-Khalili where there are plenty of shops and places to eat – tea by the way is called Shai.
Egypt is affordable for the UK traveller, as long as Sterling remains strong you can get a cheaper hotel for just £10 per day, although with the hot weather you may want to upgrade to a room with air conditioning.
