Museums in Lusaka
Lusaka is home to the Lusaka National Museum, one of Zambia’s national museums, and it covers the history and culture of Zambia. Visitors to this museum will see works of art that detail the way of life of Zambian people, while another gallery depicts the story of Zambia. If you’re visiting with children there’s also a children’s corner with exhibits that will particularly interest the younger members of your family.
Lusaka also has the Political Museum, and the Zintu Community Museum, which focuses on community life in Lusaka, and along similar lines is the Kabwata Cultural Village if you’re interested in finding out more about the culture of Zambia.
Lusaka Anglican Cathedral
Lusaka is quite a modern city so it’s not endowed with many historical or beautiful buildings, however if you’re interested in seeing a Lusaka landmark then head to the Anglican Cathedral. It’s a concrete building but has its own charm and appeal all the same, and is officially titled the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.
Munda Wanga Environmental Park
Started as a private garden back in 1956 the Munda Wanga Environmental Park has grown to be one of the top attractions in Lusaka. If you’re visiting for the day you can enjoy lunch or a snack and drink in the park’s restaurant and bar.
Markets in Lusaka
Many visitors to Lusaka like to take advantage of the city’s several markets and shopping malls that make this the premier shopping city in Zambia. Soweto Market is one of the best, comprising two market areas that include a modern day market and behind this a larger market that sells everything under the sun. Kamwala Market is another major shopping area, while Arcades Shopping Mall and Manda Hill Shopping Mall are the two largest malls in the country.
