There are no options for a direct flight from London, but several airlines offer flights to the Philippines with just a single connection. An Air New Zealand flight to the Philippines will stop in Hong Kong, while KLM connects in Amsterdam, and Kuwait Airways travels through Kuwait. Regardless of the route, the total trip from London to the Philippines is quite long. The trip will likely take close to 20 hours, including layover times.

Manila
The Philippines large and vibrant capital city is Manila. This is not only one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Asia, but in the world, and is a good place to start a visit to the Philippines. The city was almost levelled during World War 2 though there are still some parts of the historic city remaining. The old city, called Intramuros is contained within the old Spanish walls and is one of the city’s top attractions for tourists. You’ll find museums, churches, and more here including Manila Cathedral.
Cebu City
Cebu City is a popular ending point for trips to the Philippines, and is known as Queen City of the South as it’s such a beautiful place. The main attractions to look out for here include the Taoist Temple, life-size statues of Popes, and the Basilica Minor del Danto Nino.
Other Cities in the Philippines
Davao is a great city to visit as a gateway to the highest mountain in the Philippines, Mount Apo, plus a chance to see the endangered Philippine Eagle at the Philippines Eagle Centre. Vigan is also a popular city with its good selection of old Spanish colonial architecture, and its UNESCO World Heritage listed historic town.
Diving in the Philippines
The Philippines is renowned amongst divers for some fantastic diving opportunities and they don’t come much better than at Panglao Island. This island has many excellent tourist resorts to stay at, and of course world-class dive sites, and beautiful white sandy beaches.
When Should You Visit the Philippines?
There’s a tropical climate in the Philippines that offers warm to hot temperatures all year round. Mid January until the end of February are often considered the best times to visit as the temperatures are not too high and it’s usually dry. From March to May is the hottest period and then from June the rainy season kicks in.
