Flights to Nha Trang
Destinations in Vietnam
Being right on the coast, you can find lots of beaches to relax on, but there are also a number of cultural and historical attractions around Nha Trang, which is a large and modern city in the south of Vietnam.
Flights to Nha Trang
Though the Cam Ranh International Airport (airport code: CXR) does accept commercial flights to Nha Trang it is still too new to be offering regular international flights. Most visitors therefore book their flights to Nha Trang to arrive in Ho Chi Mihn City. Their airport is the Tan Son Nhat International Airport (code: SGN), and from Ho Chi Mihn City, there is a train to Nha Trang. Malaysia Airlines has a flight to Ho Chi Mihn City with one stop in Kuala Lumpur, and Lufthansa make a transfers in Frankfurt. Air New Zealand, British Airways and Air France all have service to Ho Chi Mihn as well.
Nha Trang Tourist Attractions
Thap Ba Hot Springs
The mud baths and mineral hot springs at Thap Ba in Nha Trang is an excellent attraction if you want to do some relaxing while on holiday. There are various pools for soaking and swimming, and you can either join others in more communal areas or pay for a more private spot all to yourself.
Vinpearl Amusement Park
Vinpearl is a huge amusement park filled with thrill rides like roller coasters and Ferris wheels, as well as family rides like bumper cars and 4D movie simulators. The water slide part of the park has more fun if you want to get wet. There are fast slides as well as slower kiddie pools and boat rides. On top of all the rides, there is also an underwater park area filled with aquariums and displays of fish and marine wildlife, making this a great family attraction for Nha Trang.
Long Son Pagoda
Long Son Pagoda is a large Buddhist temple with dramatic dragon mosaics. The huge Buddha statue is the centre point to the temple and can be seen from many parts of Nha Trang. The pagoda was originally built in 1886 but it's been refurbished many times since then, particularly in 1900 after some serious storm damage.
Po Ngar Cham Towers
For more ancient sights, head to Po Nagar just outside of Nha Trang. The temple complex there was initially founded in 781 AD and is still in remarkable condition. There are several levels of temples and towers, and a large statue of the Goddess Yan Po Nagar to whom the temple is dedicated.
National Oceanographic Museum of Vietnam
There are tanks of live animals as well as thousands of preserved marine specimens at this museum, along with other displays of boats and historical fishing items. The full-sized whale skeleton is an impressive exhibit that the kids love to see.
When Should You Visit Nha Trang?
It will be hot in Nha Trang for most of the year, though you can plan your visit for slightly milder months. You also want to avoid the rainy season, which is roughly between June and October. This also happens to be during several of the hotter months anyway. So to get the driest and coolest weather, head to Nha Trang in December or January. That's when the daytime highs are only 27C (81F) and the rainfall will be minimal.
