Sydney has an oceanic climate which has warm and sunny summers and cool winters, and rainfall dotted throughout the year. January is the warmest month with the temperature up to 28 degrees centigrade. In winter the weather is cool, the coldest month being July when the temperature falls to around 8 degrees. Snowfall is very rare in Sydney – in fact the last time there was recorded snow was in 1836. Sydney does have some problems however with bushfires (where the weather is so hot that greenlands ignite). When visiting Australia don’t forget to take your sun cream.
What to do
Bondi Beach is in the East of Sydney and is a very popular tourist hot spot – in the summer time it is packed with people. Remember to take your bikini or swimming costumes and normally some cover up clothes so you can walk from the beach to your hotel.

Other notable tourist attractions include Taronga Zoo, world famous for its impressive collection of exotic animals. You may also pop over to see the National Institute of Dramatic Art, which has alumni including Baz Luhrmann, Cat Blanchett and Mel Gibson. Also think about visiting the Museums of Contemporary Art, Sydney Tower and the Royal Botanical gardens.
Don’t forget to try an Australian Barbeque! Fresh seafood is the speciality and there are plenty of places by the beach to have a buffet barbeque dinner.
