St Johns, also spelled Saint Johns, is a city on the Caribbean island of Antigua. Saint Johns is the only city on the island, being situated on the north-west coast.

If you’re staying in St. Johns or in one of the luxurious resorts on Antigua you may find it best to avoid the city on a day when a cruise ship comes in, because, as you can probably imagine, the streets become even more busy than usual!

When Saint Johns isn’t heaving with visitors from a cruise ship take time to stroll around the city and soak up the ambiance. The people here are usually extremely friendly and happy to get into a conversation with you! Cricket will usually be top of the things to talk about as this is the most popular sport in St. Johns and indeed Antigua. If you can catch a cricket match at the Recreation Ground you’re in for a real treat as the atmosphere is great, and if you can remember the famous cricket player Viv Richards it’s worth knowing that he was an Antiguan!

Many visitors like to enjoy the island’s beaches and resorts by day and head into St. Johns for the evening. There are numerous restaurants in the city where you’ll find a variety of things on the menu, but you should really try some of the tasty local cuisine and drinks! After a good meal spend some time in one of the many bars and then choose one of the many great clubs where you can dance the night away!

Saint Johns is also a popular shopping city and you may find some bargains here. Clothes shops are abundant and there are also a lot of electronics available too. Of course there are also souvenir buying opportunities too!

The tropical marine climate in St. Johns gives the city warm temperatures all year round with little variation in the temperature range from summer to winter. Summertime average highs in the low 30’s C can be experienced, or winter time highs in the high 20’s C!
