As well as being the name of a country in the Caribbean, Grenada is the name of the largest of the seven islands that make up the country of Grenada and is home to the majority of the nation’s population. The capital city of Grenada, St George’s, is home to the island’s (and the country’s) major international airport called Maurice Bishop International Airport (formerly Point Salines International Airport) (airport code: GND). Being situated only around 5 miles from the capital, transport between the two is quick and easy. From the UK there are a number of choices for flights to Grenada, though none are direct. Beaches on Grenada
Grenada is graced with numerous idyllic beaches providing visitors with the archetypal image of the Caribbean – turquoise blue waters, lush vegetation, and soft white sand!
Grand Anse is Grenada’s most famous and most popular area where the highlight is the beautiful Grand Anse Beach. Despite its beauty this won’t be for everyone though, as being popular it can get busy. Find your own private piece of paradise on some of the island’s quieter beaches like Levera Beach which is quiet and secluded, or head to reputedly the most beautiful beach on Grenada, Morne Rouge Bay Beach.
Scenic Grenada
As if the scenic beaches weren’t enough, Grenada is full of plenty more spectacular scenery. The island has numerous picture perfect waterfalls so be sure to pack your camera if you visit the three falls that make up Concord Waterfalls, or the group of seven that form the Seven Sisters Waterfalls. And if you enjoy this scenery you should also visit Grenada’s mountains and nature reserves, including Grand Etang Nature Reserve, and the highest mountain in Grenada, Mount St Catherine.

Grenada is the perfect destination for a relaxing holiday, but you can also come here to enjoy the culture and history of this Caribbean island. St George’s is the capital and largest city in Grenada and is a great place to come for shopping, dining and drinking. You can visit the historic Fort George from where you get a wonderful view of the city, or Fort Frederick for even farther reaching views. Other must do’s include a visit to the nutmeg factory and the rum distillery!
