Flights to Tenerife
Destinations in Spain
Tenerife is a very popular destination for UK Holidaymakers. The Spanish island is the largest of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic. The sunny weather, friendly people and long beaches make it a favourite for travellers mainly in the summer, but also for those who like some warmth and sunshine in autumn too. Flying to Tenerife takes 4 hours and there are many flights and holiday packages to choose from. It is also a very family and child friendly location.
Flights
Flights to Tenerife are regular so the prices are competitive. You can fly from most international UK airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Liverpool etc. Some of the airlines that fly to Tenerife include Air Berlin, Jet2, Thomas Cook, Monarch, Finnair, Easyjet, British Airways and more. Tenerife is a popular package holiday resort, which means many people find it better value to book the accommodation and travel at the same time though a company like Thomas Cook or Airtours. Off peak, after the summer months of June-September, package holidays cab be extremely affordable.
Climate
Tenerife has pleasant weather all year round and this I one of the reasons it is so popular. It has been nicknamed the island of ‘eternal spring’. When you visit in the summer, temperatures can reach the 30s – be aware of this if you are unable to cope with hot nights, you need a hotel with air conditioning. The climate can vary all over the island; the south is sunnier than the north (although the south has the most resorts so there’s not much to worry about!). The north is cooler and has a pleasant feel, with lots of trees and lush plant life. Tenerife has visitors in the winter and autumn too from the UK for those who want to escape the grey weather in the UK. Flights and hotels are much cheaper off peak and you can get 2 week holidays from as little as £200. The weather is still pleasant at this time although it isn’t scorching.
What to do
Tenerife is full of beaches and the kind of place people go to relax in the sun. Here you can sunbathe and swim the sea. Some of the sand is man made and very soft and pleasant, some of it is rocky and rougher to walk on. Some of the most popular resorts with beaches and activities are Playa de las America’s and Los Crisitanos.
There are lots of opportunities to take part in water sports and activities. You can go hiking and walking, cycling, surfing, diving, play golf or go sailing. There are kids clubs all over the Island if you need to keep your children occupied.
In the evening, there are plenty of places to eat. Because there are so many tourists, there is food to cater for all; Indian, Chinese, Mexican, English. Tenerife is also a party city so there are lots of night clubs and bars.
