Tiruchirapally Tourist Attractions

Jambukeswarar Temple
It’s amazing to think that this temple was built around 1800 years ago, when the city of Tiruchirapally would have looked very different to today. Jambukeswarar is a Shiva temple and is one of five major Shiva Temples of Tamil Nadu. Each one of these five temples represents an element, and this one is water.
Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple
The towering Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple has ornate architecture that includes the gateway tower that is the second tallest of its kind in the world. It is unknown exactly when this Trichy temple was built but it has great historical and cultural importance. Non-Hindus are permitted to enter the temple, but access is restricted.
Rockfort
The Rockfort Ucchi Pillaya Temple is actually two Hindu temples dating from the 7th century. They are located on top of a huge rock in Tiruchirapally and the name Rockfort comes from the fact that this strategic position was used as a military fortification in the past. As well as visiting the temples for their cultural and historical importance, visitors can enjoy some great views of Tiruchirapally from the lofty location.
Churches in Tiruchirapally
Other religions are also represented in Tiruchirapally. One of the famous churches is St Joseph College Church, also known as St Lourdes Church because it is an exact replica of Our Lady of Lourdes in France, and is a Roman Catholic church.
