Flacq Market
The village of Flacq is on the east side of the island, and has a large open air market that is very popular with locals and tourists alike. You can find clothing, crafts, fresh fruit and much more.
Waterpark Leisure Village
Also on the east side of Mauritius, is the Waterpark Leisure Village. It is near Belle Mare and is an amusement park with large water slides, swimming pools, splash pads and other theme rides. The park is open all year long, and has several places to eat on the grounds.
Blue Bay
Though there are beaches all around the island, the Blue Bay is well-known for its blue water and white sand. Blue Bay is on the south-east coast of Mauritius, near the town of Mahebourg. Besides just lounging on the beach or swimming, there are plenty of other activities available. You can go snorkelling or take a cruise in a glass-bottomed boat to watch the fish.
Black River Gorges
The Black River Gorges National Park is made up of thousands of acres of rainforest, and has about 37 miles (60km) of trails for public use throughout. Many native birds and animals live in the park, and the information centres can tell you more about the local wildlife. The park area is quite hilly, which can provide great views but may make some trails a bit strenuous. Like Blue Bay, the Black River Gorge is in the south-west part of Mauritius.
Enjoy the Outdoors
Most of the tourist destinations in Mauritius are just the various natural places to get outdoors, and see some wonderful scenery. Around the island you can find places for jeep tours, hiking, scuba diving, dolphin watching, fishing, rock climbing, bird watching and horseback riding.
