The United States of America is one of the countries that has the most impact of the rest of the world. Comprising for 55 states and a federal district, North America is bordered by Canada to the north and Mexico in the south. America also has various territories, notable the Caribbean islands and Hawaii. The United States offers the British Tourists plenty of things to do; many people try the road trip across the vast country; some prefer the beaches of Miami, then there is Hollywood in California and New York in the west coast. Don’t forget there is Florida which houses Disneyland which is very popular with UK tourists. The US offers variety and is a great place for Brits to visit since the pound is usually quite strong against the dollar.

Flights

There are lots of locations that you can fly from to get to the US. Flights from Birmingham, Manchester, Heathrow and Gatwick are available. Airlines that fly to this area include Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Jet Airways, British Airways, American Airlines, Emirates, Finnair, United flights, virgin Atlantic, SAS, Olympic, Lufthansa lights and more. Certain areas have more frequent flights than others like Los Angeles and New York although the prices rarely fall too low due to their popularity. Remember to book in advance for the best prices; America is very popular during the summer holidays but some locations, like New York is very popular during the January sales too. There should be no problems entering the country with a valid British passport although you must remember that American customs are very throughout with customs checks.

Climate

The climate varies in the USA because of its sheer size. In the north of the country, the winters are very cold and chilly. The sunny states though are in the south of the country and the weather rarely drops below freezing here. Generally the summer is how, although some cities like Oregon, Washington and Seattle are rainier. The most moderate states are in the pacific North West whereas the east and south coast have greater pollution and smog.

What to do

If sightseeing is for you, then you then there are some amazing sites; the Grand Canyon National Park is located in the Rockies, near Phoenix, Arizona. There is also the Glacier National Park in Montana if you enjoy hiking.

If you love the glitz and glamour, then make sure you go to Los Angeles where you can visit Mans Chinese Theatre and see the start studded walk, you may even seem some stars along the way! There are also some great museums in Los Angeles like The Getty Museums and MOCA. Disneyland is just 25 miles out of Los Angeles as is The Six Flags of the Magic Mountain which has some real thrill seeker rollercoaster’s. There is New York, which has plenty of shopping and sites such as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty.
