The Magnificent Mile is Chicago’s answer to London’s Oxford Street, or Paris’s Champs-Elysees as it features many exclusive stores and has over 200 restaurants and many hotels. Or Navy Pier is another top shopping spot where shopping is combined with entertainment, museums, amusements and more.

Springfield

For a change of pace from Chicago visit the capital city of Illinois, Springfield. Although this is the capital, this city is significantly smaller than Chicago and offers some quite different attractions. Visitors interested in American history may find this Illinois city an interesting place to visit as it was the home of one of the country’s most famous presidents, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln lived here for some years and you can visit his former home which is now part of the Lincoln Home National Historic Site. The home and a four block area is covered within the site, and the home has been refurbished as it would have been in 1860. Lincoln’s Tomb is another attraction in Springfield, as is the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
