Nashville is the capital of the US state of Tennessee and is most famous for its association with music. Music isn’t all that Nashville has to offer though as thousands of tourists discover each year.

Music Valley Wax Museum

Another big attraction in Nashville for the country music fans is the Music Valley Wax Museum. Dedicated solely to big names from the country music world this is a wax museum that also includes a Sidewalk of the Stars where you can see hundreds of autographs from big names in the business.

Landmarks in Nashville

It’s not all music in Nashville. This is an historic city that also has several historical landmarks of interest including the Tennessee State Capitol which was built between 1845 and 1859 in the popular Greek Revival style. Here are free guided tours given to the public during week days, except for holidays.

The Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park is directly neighbouring the State Capitol and there’s a popular attraction here: a huge map of the state of Tennessee!

Another historical attraction in Nashville is Belle Meade Plantation. This is a historic plantation where guided tours are given by costumed staff. Buildings on the estate date back to 1790 in the form of the oldest log cabin in the state of Tennessee. The mansion itself dates from pre Civil War as it was built in 1853.

Fort Negley played an important part in the American Civil War and you can tour the site of this historic fort, plus find out more about the history of Tennessee at Nashville’s Tennessee State Museum.

When Should You Visit Nashville?

Nashville stays fairly warm all year round, but to beat the summer heat and high humidity you might want to consider visiting in the spring or autumn when temperatures are very pleasant. Average highs in the summer months are around the low 30’s C but the high humidity makes Nashville feel very hot and sticky!
