Wyoming is a beautiful state in the Rocky Mountain region of the USA. It’s home to some of the countries finest and most popular national parks, and some great scenery, perfect for tourists who enjoy the great outdoors.

Air Canada goes a different way, making transfers in Toronto and Denver instead. The flight to Wyoming runs between 16 and 18 hours, depending on connections.

Wyoming Tourist Attractions

Wyoming is a big place, ranking as the tenth largest state in the USA, but funnily enough it’s the least populated of all the US states. The amazing scenery has been left relatively untouched because so few people live here, so this means tourists can come to enjoy its natural beauty. When you’d rather experience civilisation don’t worry; Wyoming also has some large cities with lots to see and do, and restaurants, shopping, hotels and bars to enjoy! But first, the outdoors…

Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone is one of the most popular and most famous national parks in the USA, and most of it is situated within the state of Wyoming. Yellowstone was actually the world’s first national park as it was decided that this area needed to be preserved for generations to come. The most famous features are the geysers, particularly Old Faithful and the Grand Geyser, plus there’s Mammoth Hot Springs to see, and Fort Yellowstone, as well as miles upon miles of great scenery and waterfalls.

Grand Teton National Park

The second of Wyoming’s national parks is Grand Teton. This isn’t as well known as Yellowstone but it has equally as spectacular scenery here, this time mostly mountains. Being so close to the town of Jackson makes Grand Teton easy to get to, and you can come and enjoy camping and hiking amidst the forests and the mountains.

Devil’s Tower National Monument

Movie fans will no doubt remember this monolith from Close Encounters of the Third Kind! The movie definitely made it more famous, and today Devil’s Tower is a popular photographic stop as well as being a popular climbing challenge.

Jackson and Jackson Hole

Jackson Hole is world renowned as a great ski resort, popular with celebrities and the rich and famous, while the small town of Jackson is equally as popular but for its small town feel and attractive features such as art galleries and museums.

Cheyenne

The city of Cheyenne is the largest in Wyoming, as well as being the state capital. Founded in 1867, Cheyenne still has a good many historical buildings to see such as the Wyoming State Capitol Building and the Historic Governor’s Mansion. Many visitors to Wyoming think of the wild west so to get a taste for this, visit the Old West Museum and Store! The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens are another popular attraction.

When Should You Visit Wyoming?

Wyoming is quite a dry state so you don’t usually have to worry much about rainfall. Summers can be quite hot, so spring and autumn may be a more pleasant time to visit. In the winter it’s cool and snowy, so great for skiing at Jackson Hole!
