Bahia Blanca is a port town situated in the province of Buenos Aires on the central coast of Argentina. Meaning ‘white bay’ Bahia Blanca is named as such because of the white salts that typically cover the soils along the shores.

Outside of the hustle and bustle of the city there are attractions too. The Bahia Blanca Zoo is one popular tourist attraction that showcases a variety of different species, while the estuary that Bahia Blanca is located upon has been designated as a protected area, called the Natural Reserve of Bahia Blanca.

When Should You Visit Bahia Blanca?

Bahia Blanca has a humid subtropical climate so there are hot summers and mild winters to enjoy here. Being in the southern hemisphere summer is from December to March when average high temperatures reach 31C (93F) but with fairly high humidity is often feels hotter. Winter is the drier period on average, but January and March in the summer have some of the highest levels of rainfall. Winters are mild and for sightseeing would probably still be warm enough for many visitors.
