Navegantes Tourist Attractions
Navegantes is fairly well known in Brazil as a tourist resort city and seeing as it’s home to the local international airport, passengers on flights to this region will arrive right here at Navegantes.
In the city itself there are a few hotels, plus you’ll find more heading north out of the city on the coastal road. This long straight stretch of coastline has a beach running its length, so there’s plenty of opportunity for enjoying the sun, sand and sea here, while staying in one of the coastal hotels. There are places to eat and shop in Navegantes but the advantage of staying here is that you’re very close to the much larger city of Itajai, just across the mouth of the river Itajai-Acu.
Itajai
Itajai is a port city but it also features some great beaches and some lovely scenery and open space areas too, so it doesn’t feel like a really crowded city, and is in fact far smaller than places like Rio. There are some beautiful landmarks and historic architecture to see here, and these have been left over from both Portuguese and German immigrants.
Balneario Camboriu
Just south of Navegantes and Itajai is the most popular beach resort of the region, Balneario Canboriu. It’s best known and most visited by South Americans, but visitors from the UK will find there’s plenty to appeal here as well. The town is famous for its cable car that links the two main beaches, giving visitors a very unique way to get from one beach to the other.
You’ll find plenty of places to stay here if none in Navegantes take your fancy – here in Balneario there are around 100 hotels to choose from. Many of them line the attractive beaches, and there are bars and restaurants to make use of too.
When Should You Visit Navegantes?
Navegantes is warm to hot, year round, with quite high rainfall occurring throughout the year, though this doesn’t usually spoil a beach holiday. The summer months are from December to March when average highs range between 25 and 28C. In the winter it’s a little cooler but still nice for sightseeing with average highs around 19C, and there’s a little less rainfall on average over the winter.
