Bahia Solano Tourist Attractions

Right now Bahia Solano is relatively unknown outside of Colombia and outside of surfing circles but that status is changing. This small town is definitely becoming more and more popular with surfers and is also expanding its reputation as a great scuba diving spot as well. Add in to the mix the nice beaches in the area, the plentiful opportunities for hiking and enjoying nature and you have the ingredients for a wonderful holiday destination that’s a little farther away from the usual maddening crowd.

There are places to stay in Bahia Solano but you’ll find that these are generally smaller establishments where you’ll receive a much warmer and more personal welcome than in the large hotels of many other beach resorts. You won’t find loads of places to eat or drink out here either, but for many visitors to Bahia Solano that’s the main reason why they’ve come – to enjoy the peaceful and laid back atmosphere.

The water plays a large part in any visit to Bahia Solano. There are beautiful beaches just outside the town where you may be the only person enjoying the sun and the sand. You can go swimming and diving off the beach, and of course enjoy some of the great surfing that Bahia Solano has built a reputation for. Charter a boat and go exploring the coast or do some fishing for the blue fin tuna that frequent these waters.

Between May and September you’re most likely to see the humpback whales who migrate through the waters off the coast of Bahia Solano. Being such big creatures you can often see them clearly from the shore so a boat isn’t necessarily essential for whale watching here.

On dry land Bahia Solano and the surrounding region has many places where you can enjoy some hiking. You can hike or take a canoe upriver along the Chado River to come across some scenic waterfalls, plus nearby there’s flora and fauna to discover in the Utria National Park.

When Should You Visit Bahia Solano?
