Bucaramanga Tourist Attractions

Chicamocha National Park

The Chicamocha National Park is about 30 miles (50km) away from Bucaramanga, and surrounds the Chicamocha Canyon where you can get some spectacular views. The best way to see the canyon is by cable car. The cable car route is around 4 miles long, and one of the longest in the world. You can go walking, kayaking, rock climbing and even cave spelunking in the park. The park has only recently opened and has yet to be over-run with tourists.

Giron

Giron is the place to go for a little quaint history and colonial architecture. It’s really just a suburb of Bucaramanga but it feels like it’s a world apart from the busy city. Giron is a pretty area with cobbled streets and classic plazas. Go for a walk to see the quieter side of the city.

Mesa de Los Santos

At a higher altitude, the Mesa de Los Santos is usually cooler than the rest of the area and a nice place to get away. It's less than an hours drive from Bucaramanga, not far from the Chicamocha National Park. The high mesa is ideal for adventurous rock climbers though you don't have to be a thrill-seeker to enjoy a stop here.

Museo de Arte Moderno de Bucaramanga

In English this is the Bucaramanga Museum of Modern Art. The exhibits and displays change regularly to highlight the contemporary work of local artists. Pieces include paintings, sculpture and many other forms of art.

Catedral de la Sagrada Familia

Bucaramanga’s Cathedral was built in the late 1700s and is one of the largest and oldest places of worship in the city. It’s near the Santander park and in a pleasant part of town to walk around. The Romanesque-styled church has 2 spires and a number of statues of the Virgin Mary inside and out.

When Should You Visit Bucaramanga?

The climate in Bucaramanga is consistent across the year and most months are as good to visit as any other. On average, the temperature in Bucaramanga will be between 25C and 26C (77F and 79F) all year long. April, May and June tend to be the warmest months, but not by much. Rains are heaviest in April and again in October so you may want to avoid those times for a drier visit.
